Samsung BD-P1500 1080p Blu-ray Disc Player
Product Details: The Samsung BD-P1500 1080p Blu-ray Disc Player allows people to get Blu-Ray at an affordable price.
In a world where the high end Blu-Ray players are all the rage, it’s also a world where they’re extremely expensive. Many people want to get in on the Blu-Ray phenomenon, but they just cannot find the extra padding in their wallet at the end of the month, and when a Blu-Ray player is more than $500 they simply cannot justify the expense. It makes sense, after all, considering that money could be spent on those pesky things like food clothing and shelter.
Luckily Samsung has created the BD-P1500 Blu-Ray player which is now Profile 2.0 compatible so long as you feel like performing a harmless firmware update. Firmware updates can be executed by utilizing the Ethernet port on the back of the device. That being said, we now come to the device itself.

The device looks just like any other Blue-Ray player, but luckily Samsung has ditched the overly-glossy exterior this time. Normally Samsung liked to gloss everything, and as you know that tends to attract fingerprints. With the BD-P1500 you don’t need to worry about this because only the front plate is glossed over. This eliminates those moments where you look at your entertainment center and wonder what happened over there.
You won’t have any trouble getting used to the remote; the BD-P1500 comes with the exact same remote that Samsung has used for years. Luckily there are brail nubs that will help you find the right buttons even if it’s dark. A backlight probably would have helped with that too.
One thing that’s likely to upset some people are the lack of analogue outputs. That is to say there are no analogue outputs. Those with HDTV’s probably aren’t going to be put off by this because they’ve all become familiar with the glory of the HDMI cable, but those who are still using analogue televisions are probably going to be someone put off by this fact. You have to wonder why Samsung did not include analogue with the BD-P1500, after all, it is a discount Blu-Ray player, and many of the people interested in it might be owners of older television sets.
So basically what you’re dealing with is a highly discounted Blu-Ray player, and it is discounted because of the pricing that many retailers have enforced. You will be looking at paying somewhere around $130 for this, which isn’t bad when it comes to players of this type. So all in all, this is a great choice for someone on a budget. It won’t have the crystal clear quality of the top of the line Blu-Ray players, but it is worlds apart from DVD players which is all that matters in the long run.
