Product Details: Sony has been making electronics for a very long time. The first time anyone really took notice of them was when they created the Playstation. Until then, they were just the name you saw printed on the front of your television set. But now they are creating the Blu-Ray players that you hear so much about. Chances are if you’re here, you’re thinking about buying yourself a Blu-Ray player. So let’s talk about the BDP-S360 and see for ourselves whether or not it lives up to the hype.

Upon inspecting the device, it presents a problem right out of the box. It’s a Blu-Ray player alright, but where is the internet support? Every other Blu-Ray player we’ve seen has offered access to Amazon on Demand or even Netflix. It’s pretty clear that the BDP-S360 is simply a Blu-Ray player and nothing more.

On a brighter note, the BDP-S360 does have Profile 2.0 Support, which is good because by this point most people understand the concept of the profiles. There are some other issues with it. First of all the USB port is recessed, making it hard to put a memory stick in if you wish to listen to MP3’s. The remote lacks an eject button, and a few other design flaws.

All that aside, we have to admit that the thing is very attractive. It does have a nice glossy finish on the front, but the rest of the device isn’t glossy at all. So what does that mean? It means you won’t need to worry about leaving excessive fingerprints on the BDP-S360! That’s always a good thing, trust us, because you don’t want to leave oily fingerprints all over your device.

More than likely you’re probably wondering about the quality of the BDP-S360. You will be quite happy to know that its picture and sound is second to none with most Blu-Ray movies. You will probably also be quite happy to know that it is very competitively priced, costing anywhere between $175 to $300. The BDP-S360 is not the cheapest on the market, but it comes pretty close!

So what we are essentially dealing with here is a basic Blu-Ray player. If you are thirsting for internet access, streaming video and the like, you’re not going to find it here. If what you’re looking for is a basic player that is able to play the latest movies that you can buy at the store, then the BDP-S360 is likely the best choice for you. We would say this is basically for those just starting out in the world of Blu-Ray players that just want to sit at home and enjoy a movie without the hassle of all those other features. After all, those pesky internet features tend to get in the way!
